A shy young stay at home mom moving to the area looked at the big city as an impossible place to
find friendship. She chose to open a Yahoo club on the internet, a place she felt more at home. On November 9, 1999 St. Louis
Moms opened its doors. Slowly members trickled in with introductions of "I'm looking for a place to belong" and "my friends
don't have children. I feel like we just don't relate to each other like we used to."
The word spread and our
first play date was on December 12, 1999. Four mothers attended. Soon outgrowing our limited resources and seeking a safer
home we moved to the parentsplace.com board. There we changed our name to St. Louis Parents and continued to grow at a rapid
rate.
Today a small play date will have no less than 6 mothers attending and averaging 10 moms at the normal
sized play dates. Our playgroup has become so much more.
